Buttons on right edge of screen unresponsive after iOS 15.5 update (iPhone SE 2)

After 15.5, I can no longer do any keypresses that are along the rightmost edge of the screen. The letter p does not work, backspace is spotty (both worked around by using a "left handed keyboard"). But the worst is that I cannot access any of the "send" buttons which typically lie towards the right edge of the box. This is true for messages, slack and also instagram "next". Pretty much no keypress is registered as a keypress. Pull up and down or side movements seem to work even along the edge so it's clearly not a loss of touch sensitivity.
