Locked iPad, restored it and still can't get in

The passcode on my iPad is locked. I tried to restore it and it's asking for the password I used four years ago rather than my current apple id password. Help!

That means the iPad is Activation Locked to your old iCloud account. You have a couple of options:


  • Reset the password for your old Account.

Reset Password -> https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

Forgot Apple ID -> https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid



If those did not help, Contact Apple Support:

-> Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support
