IOS 15.6 - Music Library Empty When Using CarPlay

Prior to upgrading my iPhone 11 to IOS 15.6, I was able to play playlists that are in my Music library using CarPlay. Now CarPlay just shows a message of something to the effect of, “If you had anything in your Music library it would show up here.”

Is IOS 15.6 broke?

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Hi ApexRon,

We're happy to assist you with playing music while connected to CarPlay. Does it show your entire music library missing when using CarPlay? If so, let's see if any of the steps listed here: If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library - Apple Support will resolve the issue.

Also, we have some basic troubleshooting steps for when CarPlay is not working like you expected. You can view that information here: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

Cheers!

Since this only started after the update to iOS 15.6, then you need to check if there are updates for the stereo to work with the new iOS version. If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

"Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information."

You may need to contact the stereo manufacturer and wait for an update if none are available yet. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

I have no problem playing music in CarPlay.

However, CarPlay Music is showing my Music library as empty. Yet, my iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and AppleTV show the library and from which I can play a playlist.

When I attempt to sync my iPhone Music library to my MacBook, the MacBook states that the library is in iCloud and it cannot sync. Yet, when I added the playlists to my library, I asked that all the songs in the playlists be downloaded as well. Music memory usage on the iPhone is almost 3 Gb and lists the songs of the playlists as part of that 3 Gb.

There were no issues like this with IOS 15.5 .

I also noticed that verbal directions from Maps were no longer playing through the speakers of my vehicle but rather my iPhone speakers. This morning I noticed no audio at all from Maps.

The iPhone was reloaded. CarPlay was removed and added back.
