Hello, can somebody explain the use of screen brightness when using auto brightness? I mean what exactly am I setting when I set the screen brightness and the phone anyway change the brightness depending on the amount of light around it?

The adjuster lets you set a mean level about which the auto brightness will vary:

Does that mean that I should set it to 50%? I like it at 80% all the time but my phone is only at that level in bright light, and even if I set it at 80% when I am inside it will revert back to a lower level after it has been locked.
What is the use/meaning of screen brightness when using auto brightness?
