Apple Store MS Office 365 - How to upgrade from Personal to Family

I have an Office 365 Personal subscription that I bought in Apple Store.

Now I need to get a Family description instead.

However, I cannot for the life of me get the grips on how to do that.

Microsoft cannot help (I've asked) because my subscription is through the Apple Store.

And looking at my Apple Subscription there is no way to change it.¨

The only "choice" is to cancel the present subscription. But it will the continue until the expiry of the present payment period, which in my case is not until mid 2023.

That doesn't make any sense as it it would mean that I cannot upgrade to a family subscription until then without incurring extra costs.

I would certainly at the very least have expected the possibility to upgrade at any time agains paying the additional difference for the remaining period.

Microsoft support informed me that this was possible for Office 365 subscriptions bought through Microsoft. I checked and this is indeed an option. But I cannot use that as this option will tell me that I did not buy my subscription directly from Microsoft.

Troubles doesn't even end there! Creating this entry prompted me for a topic. But none of the available choices seemed appropriate.

Dare I say it? Yes, I do!

Sorry, that is not fully correct since I did not purchase my subscription my subscription directly from the Microsoft Store but via a third party. In this case: Apple Store.

From the Microsoft Support Site:

"Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription purchased through a third party

If you purchased a Microsoft 365 subscription from a third-party retailer instead of the Microsoft Store, contact the third-party retailer directly to manage your subscription and billing.

  • Microsoft has limited access and visibility over subscriptions purchased through a third-party retailer.
  • Microsoft cannot cancel or help turn on or off recurring billing for subscriptions purchased through a third-party retailer.
  • All refund requests must go to the third-party retailer from whom you purchased the subscription because Microsoft did not receive that payment. (This also applies to Office Home and Business licenses.)"
