Volume not working on Apple TV remote control

My remote control got disconnected only volume works. When I connected it again everything works except volume.

Apple TV remote volume control keeps failing This seems to be a common problem. The volume controls on our Apple TV remove keep failing. We've reset the remote and rebooted Apple TV, unpaired and re-paired the remote, etc. The remote is only a year old. Any further tips?
