How to disable auto-zoom in on form fields in safari

I am so frustrated but finally happy I figured out the root of my Safari annoyance.

it doesn’t matter what page I visit, when there is a form field that I click on ( text box, like the Google search bar in the desktop browser version of the page, or if you click on a form field in a page to enter your name or or other information), or the page auto drops the cursor in the form field, Safari will automatically zoom in to the field.

this is incredibly annoying.

picture this scenario:

you visit a mortgage lending site and you are filling an application that has 37 sections you have to click on and enter personal information. Most of this is information you use so frequently you can quickly answer and enter each response into each field. But every time you click the field it zooms in, so you can see what is before or after the field. So you have to zoom out to see the instructions. and you have to do this 37 times.

another scenario. You visit a Google search site and the site auto zooms but not enough you can easily tell. You end up scrolling the page up and down looking for a submit or send or next page button… and you can’t find it. Only to realize you have to zoom out just a little to see the hidden button.

imagine how many company’s lose sales or clicks or ad revenue because of what’s unseen on a page.

from what i can tell this is a fairly well documented issue but only from the web designer / coder perspective. There are instructions for how a designer or site manager can input some code to their site to the fix the issue on the backend so it doesn’t happen to their users.

but how can I as a user fix this clear bug for all sites I visit? How can I prevent my page from auto zooming?

I have already tried setting page zoom to way under 100% by default in safari settings. It does NOT change the behavior of the “auto zoom on form field”.
