My iMac no longer recognises my Canon camera

My iPhone camera is so good that I've not used my Canon EOS 450D camera for a year. Today I used it and failed to upload my photos onto my iMac (running Catalina, version 10.15.7). However I was able to upload the photos onto my old iMac (running Sierra, version 10.12.6). Why has my new iMac stopped recognising my camera?

You did not tell us how you connect the camera or maybe you are using a SD card reader. Anyway, try after a reboot (I always do that as a 1st troubleshooting step). Or try Applications/Image Capture.app. And uninstall any 3rd party virus apps and "cleaners".
