Apple Watch battery drain with Resound Bluetooth Hearing Aids

I have an Apple Watch series 4 and an iPhone 8 Plus.

I got Resound One hearing aids and started using the Resound 3d app with them. I installed it only on the phone, not the Watch. I experienced 20% per hour battery drain on the Watch.

I started turning off things on the Watch, raise to turn on, notifications, everything anyone suggested. Hated disabling my watch so much!

No joy. Deleted the Resound app and suddenly was down to about 10% an hour. I should say I’m not streaming much of anything, just the occasional phone call.

I don’t understand why my watch battery is being sucked dry like this. It’s not like I installed the hearing aid app on the Watch.

The phone and the Watch are up to date on system software.

Many other complaints about this, see Reddit, the App Store, etc.

I am wondering if there’s anything I can do about this.

I am also wondering if Apple Watch 7 and or a newer phone would help matters. I really just want to wall off the Watch from the hearing aids.

Hoping maybe there’s a setting.

I also have a Series 4 Apple Watch with ReSound hearing aids, and I have also noticed this excessive battery drain issue for the past two months. I had initially thought that it might be caused simply by the Watch battery’s normal (chemical) aging. However, I have not yet located any specific Watch battery diagnostics procedures or power capacity testing methods/data to confirm or refute this.

The time when this first began coincides approximately with the dangerous MFi hearing aid acoustic instability problem with various iPhones, which is separately documented by numerous persons on this forum.

This issue appears to have occurred with the release of iOS15.4.1. Regrettably, that dangerous, unhealthy, and very disturbing MFi hearing aid acoustic instability problem has persisted continuously since that time, up to and including the current iOS 15.5 release.

Thank you for posting, and please update your additional findings here, if you have any new discoveries.

Hi Bob thanks for the helpful response, nice to know I’m not the only one!

I just ordered a series 7 Apple Watch because the Bluetooth is supposed to be different as well as the battery. But now I am not as confident this will fix the problem based on your input. But anyway it should be here in a couple days and I will report back one way or another.
