Apple Watch 6 battery drain

My Apple Watch 6 has very recently - within the last week - been experiencing rapid battery drain. Prior

to this, my battery would last a day and a half - depending upon use - before a charge. Now, some days the battery does not last 24 hours.

My use has not changed - I use the Workout app daily but do not use my watch for music, calls, or any other high-battery-drain feature.

Is this a software issue or a

hardware issue or neither? I don't want to upgrade my watch if it's a software issue.

Apple does not read this user-to-user technical support forum for feedback.

But you can send Apple feedback via:

Feedback - Watch - Apple

If enough users send feedback, it is more likely a decision maker will see it, and maybe take action.

I am having the same problem, and had it this summer too. Had to take it to the store and it was eventually resolved but I don’t remember how. Very annoying. The first step was making sure that the phone it was paired to is software updated. I don’t remember what came next because I don’t think that alone resolved it. Clearly not since my phone is up to date.

The most annoying thing about this is that Apple has adopted a culture of frequent but bug-prone updates joined with a lack of transparency. It would take zero effort for them to create an app equivalent to this message board to broadcast mea culpas over known issues (which should be rare but aren’t). Instead the pattern is that the company issues an update to fix a cluster of issues, but the update itself sometimes generates a collateral issue. Then users one by one have the “wait a minute, is this normal or broken?” moment, then have the burden of doing research and repair.

But for the record, my watch is operating normally after I recently restarted it. I even had to google that because to my surprise, the power off button was not responding no matter how many times I tapped it.

That's very good advice, but I just don't have any confidence anymore that they listen to their consumers. And I literally JUST posted this message about finally having resolved my battery problem three days ago, and guess what, they issued another update. This is a company in decline, honestly. Maybe they are too big to fail at this point (I hope so because I'm a stockholder), but many of the qualities that we used to associate with them have vanished.
