Closing open apps

How do you close apps on iPhone 6 Plus. I am swiping up and the flashlight, alarm, air plane mode erc keeps coming up on screen. Is there a sway to bypass this?

Can't remember if iPhone 6 Plus has a Home button. If it does, try double-click the Home button, then swipe an app up to close it.

Double-press the HOME button. Swiping up opens the Control Center. But see→Do not close "background" apps | Communities
