Apple ID and Icloud - 2 Email addresses

Hi, I've searched the questions but I'm still confused.


I have 2 accounts. On my phone, My Apple ID is signed in with my work email (***@kp.org) and Media and purchases is signed in with my personal email (***@yahoo.com). Both emails/accounts obviously have icloud accounts. So I have an icloud & apple ID under each email address.


I can't keep the work email address forever. I see I can change the email address on apple ID and was thinking of change ***@kp.org to ***@yahoo.com so they would match but I don't know what that would do. I'm concerned it could mess something up.


I thought I read merging is not possible. Do you recommend me changing work email account to my personal email so they match and I no longer have to use my work email address? If I can't merge, perhaps I should change the work email to another personal email address? Thoughts?


If possible, how can I use 1 email address for both and if not, what would be the best route to get rid of my work email on apple ID-iCloud?

You can't merge Apple ID, so you can't use the same email address on the two IDs. You can change the email address on your work ID to a different email address using the steps in the article below.


Note the restrictions in the article.


Apple ID Name Change.  * 


Make sure you turn off Find My Phone before signing out of the old ID. Once signed out and Find My Phone is off, then sign in with the new ID, then turn Find My Phone back on.


 What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support  *  I suggest doing this before you change your Apple ID or password.


You can try setting up Family Sharing between the IDs if you want to be able to share purchases made with the IDs.
