Usb-c to DisplayPort 165hz on 2018 MacBook Pro

Just got this monitor https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32gn550-b-gaming-monitor . Was wondering how could i connect it to my 2018 MacBook Pro(maxed out specs) and still achieve 165hz. Also I am running it under windows(if that effects it)

As far as I can find, I'm afraid neither Apple nor LG sells the exact kind of cable you need for your Mac. USB-C and DisplayPort generally don't need to go together, and they don't have a lot of options.

If you must get something from LG and/or Apple, you could get this HDMI 2.0 cable from LG and this USB-C adapter from Apple. The HDMI cable will fit into the adapter, which would go into your Mac. It wouldn't be as cheap, but it would support the refresh rate you desire, while buying from reputable companies.

Good luck, and feel free to post back with any questions!

Actually, I have that exact display! I use Boot Camp too, but generally use the monitor for the Mac side. I would assume that if you connect it using the included cable (a DisplayPort, if I'm not mistaken), then your refresh rate should not be affected. I use it with an HDMI cable and an HDMI-to-Thunderbolt 3 adapter to connect the two, and it runs nice and smooth.

Ah, I see. Your refresh rate will depend on the cable you choose. Make sure the cable you get is at least DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0, as they offer up to a 240Hz refresh rate at 1080p.

Here's one example. This DisplayPort cable claims to support 240Hz at 2K resolution, which will fit your monitor just fine.

Other third-party options are also available- just make sure they explicitly state compatibility. Enjoy!

Sure- these should work, though I recommend the first one for the reasons stated.

Walmart - USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter (Probably the best choice. Explicitly states support for 165Hz and MacBook, as well works with the included cable)

Walmart - USB-C to HDMI 2.0 Cable

Target - USB-C to 4K DisplayPort Adapter (Will work with existing cable)

Target - USB-C to HDMI 2.0 Cable
