I did not accept the latest monterey beta, it installed when I restarted. I did not check auto update, I never do; but the software managed to check it and lock it. Was there a decision to force upgrade beta users? I did not choose to upgrade. iMac 2019 3-6-i5; 128 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB

If you are a beta user, I think you need to contact Apple on this. Specifically the beta users coordinator or whoever you report your findings to as this is obviously something that need to be reported.
If not a beta user, then your only recourse may be to erase the disk and install the OS of choice.

We cannot discuss Apple beta software in these user-supported, public Apple communities due to terms of the beta agreement and terms of usage here. You should never install beta software on a production Mac due to the revenge of unintended consequences that beta software can introduce.
