Can’t change Sabrent ssd icon

I cannot change the icon for a Sabrent drive. I have followed the iOS instructions for all my other drives, but this one will not accept the new icon. I contacted Sabrent, and they said it was an Apple/iOS issue. Any advice?

Can't change SSD's icon I have an external SSD that has two partitions. One partitions contains a backup of the MacOS System (13.4.1) and is bootable. The other partition contains only files. I was able to change the icon on the "files" partition but cannot change the icon on the "system" partition. I have tried a different icon that was used elsewhere with no problems. So I don't think it can be the icon file itself. In the info window, the new icon shows in the Preview section but does not show up on the desk top icon. I have an identical "setup" on an external HDD and both partitions have been changed successfully. Paul

hard drive icon looks like time machine icon I have Venture 13.4 on a MacStudio. I have an external USB disk that works properly for Time Machine. But one of my external disks (MacHD3 in a Thunderbolt enclosure) also has the Time Machine icon assigned to it. As a result, for example, DxO refuses to find any photos on this disk. The disk is NOT listed as a Time Machine target, and there are no Time Machine directpries on the disk (but there is lots of other stuff). There was a hidden file .Time machine supported (or something similar) that I deleted. But the icon has not changed. How do I fix this? [Edited by Moderator]

you didn't specify what instructions you've followed, so I'm sorry if you already tried this. but, you can go into Finder Preferences under the "sidebar" tab and add your Mac to "locations".

then in finder, choose "your" Mac in the sidebar. then you can try and change the icons in that location.
