HDCP error message — can't play iTunes movies on brand-new MacBook Pro

Hi. I have a brand-new MacBook Pro running Monterey, and my rented iTunes movies won't play. I get a message reading, "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)." I've read and tried tips provided on other forums (rebooting, turning off sharing, disconnecting other devices), but nothing's working. Super frustrating. Can someone please help?
