Scanner Connection

I have a 13" Macbook Pro running Monterey 12.4. I recently purchased a

PIXMA Canon TR8620a. I'm connected using wireless to my network and can

print, but unable to scan. The iJ Scan Utility lite app doesn't show a

connection.

You may need to reinstall the Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite application. There should be an option for an ICA Driver, which in my experience is required on Mac computers. ICA stands for Image Capture Application and it's purpose is obvious from the name. If you only selected TWAIN (or made no selection) the ICA Driver may not have been installed.

I found a solution. I checked my network settings & found the IPv6 settings were configured to manual. So I changed it under:Network/Advanced/TCP/IP to configure IPv6 “automatically." I shut my printer off, then restarted and my scanner now recognizes my Mac and will let me uses the Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite App or with my Mac under Printers/Scanners.

In order to make any scanner work, scanner software must be installed from the scanner manufacturer's web site. It must be a current version that is reported to work with your computer's operating system. You can also scan using Apple's Image Capture app but this is not a full featured scan software. Another alternative is to download and install the Vue Scan app. You can try it for free. It will leave a watermark in the trial scans. It is a full featured scanner app which I use and can recommend. I have no association with Vue Scan.
