Create iTunes Connect account stuck in infinite loop

I’m trying to publish on Apple Books from Pages on my iPad mini 5 with iPadOS 15.5. This apparently requires me to create an iTunes Connect account, a process that starts with my appleID and password. I enter those. The page asks if I trust the browser (yes: Safari, latest update). Then it takes me back to the same create account page and form with the same input fields as before. No message. No explanation. I re-enter everything. The page blinks, doesn’t ask about the browser this time, and … I’m back where I started. Have I forgotten my AppleID password? Only way to find out is to change it. Done. Back to iTunes Connect… same infinite loop.

Only when I cut/paste the URL from that form to post here do I see it: https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/digitalContractsSignup?ccTypeId=13&error=This+iTunes+Store+account+does+not+have+a+valid+credit+card+on+file.+Go+to+the+iTunes+Store+to+update+this+account+with+valid+credit+card+information+before+trying+again. Got that? OK, so I go to the iTunes store and… there’s nowhere to add a credit card.

Does anybody know how to add a credit card to iTunes store?

I’m actually guessing nobody does because this is a legacy message and payments for all apple digital products now go through Apple Pay in Settings. So I check my credit card info in Settings. My card is good (tried to add it again and Settings said it was already on file). But —Whoops!—my address is out of date, so I correct that, exit, re-enter to confirm the changes stuck. They did. Great, so now I go back to the Create iTunes Connect account page, and… same story.

NOW I’m out of ideas; please let me know if you have any.

Yeah I agree, the support guy I spoke to was very nice and helpful even though iTunes Connect was within his area.

I have tried private browsing, cleaning all kind of history, different browsers, different devices and operating systems but the **** login form doesn’t show up. Are you able to see the form on this page? https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/digitalContractsSignup?ccTypeId=13

I only see the text and the rest of the grey box is empty:

Hi! I have a similar issue when opening the page https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/digitalContractsSignup?ccTypeId=13, but I can't see the login form.

Tried to call support but they couldn't help.

But I've found that the issue is that there's an incorrect version of a JavaScript file used on the page (https://appleid.cdn-apple.com/appleauth/static/jsapi/authService.1.1.1.min.js) I think it should use https://appleid.cdn-apple.com/appleauth/static/jsapi/authService.latest.min.js so if there are any developers reading this, please fix :)

I got in! Here's how:

  1. Opened settings > my name > Payments & Shipping
  2. Added a new credit card (not Discover this time)
  3. Made that the default (which I think a new card is by, um, default)

Now it shows both cards, with the new one on top.

Then I went back to the create iTunes Connect account page and I got in this time.

Still strange because I used the Discover several times in July, even for Apple Pay, and it worked fine.

Best of luck to those experiencing similar problems.

Hej Gurklukt,

I phoned Apple support once again and come in contact with a real support PRO. He didn't know the problem or the solution, but he wanted to help. I'm sorry I don't remember the Swedish guys name. He didn't let go until I had loaded the book on Itunesconnect.

I'm so pleased when you come through those professionals.

The first problem was solved direct... . go to a private connection in safari. I had something saves in the history that made this problem.

It weren't strait forward afterward either but with his competence and my we manage. A lot to fill in..

I help you if you run in to problems.
