some events in Home App are greyed out when attempting to set new automations

How do I run certain automations when the screen is locked? I have an automation that is set to run at a certain time of day. Even when the ipad / iphone is locked it will run the following shortcuts: A greeting to me: Read me the weather Give me my calendar appointments Tell me the gold price Play me certain random music clips in my Apple music library. However when I try to use Assistant (Google assistant) in a shortcut it stops and asks me to tap to continue (screen locked). If the screen is unlocked, it Assistant runs just fine. Why do the apple apps run on a locked screen but google assistant won't? You can see two photos below of firstly the automation, and secondly the shortcut of the Google Assistant. The automation only runs the first part but blocks on the second if the screen is locked.

home app Is anyone having issues with automations in the new Home App? Ever since the 16 iOS update some of my automations are not working - and it's a different automation each time, it's not consistent which automation works or does not work??? Frustrating!

Weather automation in Home App no longer working with 16.5 OS My weather automations were working prior to upgrading to 16.5 OS. The weather portions of the automations no longer work upon upgrading. The strange thing is that when you test the automation using the play button or "Test This Automation", it runs fine, including the weather portion, but when it is set to run at a specific time of day, the automation runs, but the weather portion of the automation does not function. Are others seeing this?

Hello rpretorius,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We see that some events are greyed out in the Home app. It's possible these events require Location Services to update. Follow the steps below to enable Location Services:

In the Home app on your iOS or iPadOS device, tap , then tap Home Settings.
Scroll down, then turn off Location Services.
