Turning in an Old iPad 2 for Recycling

I have an iPad 2 (2011 model) that I'd like to ship for recycling. Two of the requirements for recycling is that the iPad must be completely wiped of all its memory and that it should have at least 30% battery. However, I don't have the charger for this iPad model because it's so old and I don't really want to spend money on a charger just to send it in for recycling. As a result, I can't charge its battery and also I can't wipe its memory.

What can I do in this scenario? Is it still okay for me to just ship the iPad regardless? I feel that because it's so old (and hasn't been touched in like 7 years), there will be no useful information on it and I would like to just turn it in for recycling anyways (it's not like Apple is reusing the software here; it's a question of the raw hardware that can be turned into newer products like the M1 chip).

Hi,

It is always good practice to remove all personal information before recycling, if possible.

The iPad 2 would use a 10 W USB power adapter and a special 30-pin dock connector to USB cable.

Do you have access to the cable (similar cables were used for early iPhones)? If so, another USB power adapter capable of delivering 10 W output (5 V at 2 A) should work. If necessary, you could perhaps borrow an adapter and/or cable.
