Apple watch open water swim app

My open water swim app pauses after 10 seconds. I have removed the auto-pause. Do I need to have it next to my skin? it has been over my wetsuit. I need this to work, this is why I spend $300 on the watch!

The watch has to be in contact with your skin or the sensors won't work.

Apple watch ultra keeping pausing during workouts even when locked When I'm at a workout (usually football), my watch ultra keeps pausing the workout by accident. It does nothing. How do I lock my watch completely during workout to avoid this silly issue of pausing? That's btw a shockingly bad experience given that this is 90% of the use of a apple watch (track activities)

Apple Watch ultra action button for swimming Hi I have the action button setup for workout. When I train I thought I could use the action button to pause and restart my swim workout. It works fine to pause but does not resume as the watch is in water lock mode! I seem to have to water unlock first the resume which is very annoying and inefficient. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you
