Is it possible to export the Library from Music under Big Sur as a xml or other file such that iTunes 12.8 can open and use it?
My Music is all on external server drives. The server is a MP3,1.
BS is on a MM and HS (iTunes 12.8) is on an MBA.

That should work. Try File > Library > Export Library... to export the Music library as an XML file, then File > Library > Import Playlist... to import the XML file into iTunes. Before importing the playlist make sure that the media folder is set to the correct path on the network or turn off the option to copy files to the media folder.

If you don't need all the other data then you can select the location of the media files as your iTunes Media folder and then use File > Add to Library. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Mac - Apple Community in case there is an issue there.

odd, tried this yesterday at it was a no go.
today it seems to be working, though it is taking a long time. wonder if it'll be as long as add to Library would.
Time will tell.
Add to Library won't pick up playlists, ratings, play counts, etc.

that wouldn't matter to me. just wanted the MBA to be able to see the new library.
I have just replaced one of the sever drives.
