Can't Sync my music anymore

I have an iPhone 11 with 256 Gb, of which 153 Gb is used and ~102 Gb shows as available in Settings->about. My music Library shows 118 Gb used in Settings->General->iPhone Storage. Despite having 100 Gb of available space, I cannot sync to my music library with an error message that my iPhone has insufficient memory to sync and I should get rid of 5Gb of data/apps/whatever and try again. This is nuts. Why isn't having 100 Gb of free space on my iPhone sufficient to support a sync function that on any given operation affects less than 1 Gb of data? I'm running iOS 15.5 on an iPhone 11, build A2111. The iTunes I'm syncing to is version 12.9.5.5, running on an iMac 27" (late 2014), Intel Core i5, and is using Mojave version 10.14.6

Hi popeye2day,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Are you downloading and streaming Lossless content? If so, few would suggest the following steps:

1-Check to see if Lossless is enabled in Settings > Music > Audio Quality.

2-If enabled, have them disable Lossless

3-Delete all music from Settings > Music > Downloaded music

4-Restart the iOS device

5-Check the Music storage again, and test the issue.

If the issue remains, we recommend that you reach out to Apple Support directly to take a further look. Please reach out here:

Hope this helps!
