Unlocked iphone will only work with original carrier

I have an unlocked iPhone 11 that will only work with a Vodafone sim. Once I try a sim from any other network, it just shows up no service. I have taken the phone to the Apple store but they can’t find any issues with the phone. Any suggestions?

If it still doesn't work, try to remove the SIM card and put it back again.

It is possible that the SIM card is damaged, go to Vodafone and request a replacement SIM card. Normally it is free.

👉 Check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.

If the problem persists, visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller in your region for assistance to diagnose the problem. And they could offer a possible solution.

You will first have to make an appointment due to the pandemic.

Probably the problem is with Vodaphone, though not necessarily intentional.

People buy "unlocked" phones from BestBuy without knowing that the first carrier the phone sees locks that phone (ALWAYS buy unlocked phones directly from Apple). But people have reported that "unlocked" phones, which are carrier locks through this mechanism can be a nightmare to unlock. Seems once they are told they go to the carrier and tell that carrier, but the carrier does not even know about that "feature" of their service. The tug-of-war leaves makes the phone owner the loser in the game.
