new watch arrived and won't charge or turn on

Anyone else have this issue? I just bought a brand new apple watch SE from my carrier, it arrived yesterday --- won't turn on, won't charge, nothing shows on face, and nothing happens when try to force restart. I assume it is dead, and most likely the charger doesn't work (even though it was new out of the box and yes, all plastic removed lol). Just curious if this has happened to anyone else and if it is just a charger issue or actually a watch issue.

First try using a different charger/wall outlet that will narrow it down to the watch.
