update failure with itunes- confused on which phone is connected

i have an iphone 13 and itunes wants to update it.... it recognizes it as 13 pro but when the update extracts and tries to install the program, itunes, says your iphone x can not be updated.... somewhere it is confused on what phone it is trying to update
