I'm trying to purchase individual songs (which I've been doing for 10+ years) on iTunes. The only option I'm given is to subscribe to Apple Music, which I have no inclination to do. Has Apple taken away the individual purchase option?

I'm running the latest & greatest, Monterey v12.3.1, and I can find no "Buy Music" button, or pull down within the iTunes store section of Apple Music app. Not worth my time to keep looking, but I appreciate your response. If its there, it is for sure not easy to find.

There is no requirement to subscribe to Apple Music in order to buy songs. See instructions in Buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support

See step 6 of the Mac section of that article for the following:
6 - Click the price next to the song or album to buy it.
Interesting, your post worked perfectly, on my iPhone. I have been futiley attempting to do so from my MacBook. I guess that mode has been disabled? Or is there a way to do what you showed for iPhone, on a MacBook? In any event, thanks for the work around.
It still works on a Mac. See the "Buy music from the iTunes Store in the Apple Music app on your Mac" section of that same support article if your Mac is running Catalina, Big Sur or Monterey (or use iTunes on earlier versions).
