Gmail app frozen on iPhone 13 pro

I just set up my new iPhone 13 Pro. It has version 15.3 firmware. When I tap on the Gmail app icon it brings me to a sign in page (pic on bottom below). When I tap the “sign in” button it brings me to the page shown in the pic on top below. Here I click on Google which seems like the only thing to do because I’m trying to access a Google product. But when I tap on Google nothing happens. It is just frozen. I cannot get beyond this page. Very frustrating any help would be much appreciated.
