Can I pair together 2 AirPods from different sets?

I lost my right AirPod and found a right AirPod in my house that is not mine am I able to use 2 totally different AirPods and pair them together?

This is not an Option:

They need to be the same set. You cannot merge two separates AirPod pairs in to one pair.
