Can you just click and hold it and drag it from the sidebar?

If the MB was created on webmail for your provider you may have to go there to remove it since the sidebar under you account tends to reflect webmail for IMAP accounts.

Have 20,000 plus emails and would like to delete groups at once

Right click, delete should at least hide it.
