mac erase

I've upgraded to a new mac and completed the steps for erasing my old one. Before i box it up, how can i confirm that data is erased?

If you have done everything at > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201065 and follow the "erase and reinstall macOS" link in step # 8, then you are good to go.
