When filling out an online form the date picker does not allow me to select '1944' as, for example, a date of birth without scrolling back using the left hand arrow. How can I turn off the date picker or is there an alternative solution?

The remote website forms may be using features that are supported in a different browser, or dependent on your having JavaScript enabled in your current browser. You cannot simply switch off that website feature, and as you have found that the arrow key gets the job done, you may have to live with that.
