I do not want to transfer all my photos on to my new Mac, can I select NOT to transfer them?

If your photos are in iCloud, then deselect photo sync in iCloud settings (System preferences >> iCloud >> switch photos off)

All photos didn't transfer over. Using Migration Assistant, most of my photos transferred over from my MacBook Pro late 2013 to my new MacBook Pro Monterey via wifi , but many didn't. Is there a reason for this? And, how do I get them all? I'm afraid that if I start over, I will lose the new ones I've added since I did the transfer, and there are too many to keep track of.
