Do I need a special charger for my apple watch, series 7?

You need one with a USB-C connection. I would also suggest you get one that supports fast charging which your new Watch supports, such as the Apple 20W USB-C power adapter or the Anker Nano USB-C 20W model which is smaller and less expensive.
