How to convert from ExFat to Mac OS Extended without losing data in an external hard disk?

Remove, to secure location, all data on the exFat drive.

The reformat the drive and move the data back

Disk Utilities >> View >> View ALL attached Drives.

Choose the Upper Most Drive by Manufactures name

HFS Journaled with the GUID Partition Map
