AirPods Pro still will not auto-switch back to MacBook in Monterey

When my AirPods are connected to Mac and start listening something on iPhone the AirPods will switch. However, if - then - I want to start listening something on MacBook the AirPods will not switch. They do show up as connected, but I have to manually disconnect them and reconnect them.

It's annoying that non-Apple product can handle it better.
