There have recently been many reports of a broad range of new problems on this support site about the latest release of Safari v15. It is included in the downloads for Big Sur and Catalina. If you are experiencing these problems, you can use another browser such as Firefox or Chrome and they will work for you until a newer version of Safari is released.

I've been having the same problem with v.15 for about two weeks now. It began after I inadvertently turned on two different 1Password extensions in the Safari Extensions Menu. As soon as I start the browser, it flashes and disappears. Initially, the crash reports listed the two 1Password extensions and a mention of "undefined", which I took to mean there was a conflict in the Extension Manager. Luckily Safari opened again just once, letting me deselect both extensions. After that it went on crashing. More recently, though, the crash reports start like this: "The default interactive shell is now zsh.

To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`. For more details, please visit https://support.apple.com/kb/HT208050," and the reference to the undefined extensions is gone. So I still can't open Safari in the Mac user account where this happened, but fortunately the problem seems to be confined to that specific user account. As soon as I switch to another account on the same Mac, the problem is gone, so there is a workaround of sorts.

Now I understand. Since Safari doesn't work, you can't do the download. Here is what you might do. Have someone else download the installer DMG file for a Mac and place it on a USB flash drive. Then you can insert the drive in your Mac to install the browser file. Once you have it installed, then you can access the internet's web pages. Good luck.
