The messages are showing up with a green background and are not being delivered.
I've also noticed the same thing in sending messages to other people.
All my settings are correct on my phone, but I have been having router WIFI problems.
Could that be the reason?

iMessages are sent using a Wi-Fi or cellular data network, so if you are having issues with your Wi-Fi, that would cause the messages to turn green. You can learn more about this in About iMessage and SMS/MMS
