new m1 stuck on big sur update
So I have a new MacBook Pro stuck on the Big Sur update. 6 hours. Turned it off, turned it on, still stuck.
Can anyone give me any other advice?
Or do I just take it to a shop tomorrow?
Thank you!

If this "Stuck " is during the installation process - suggest shut down by whatever means required including the Power Button. Disconnect any external devices and connect to charger.
Start up your Mac in safe mode and it will do a Repair Disk, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and Fonts. So, it will load slowly - normal.
This may or may not allow the update process to complete successfully.

Hi, apologies for the delayed reply.
I definitely had the 15% space.
In the end we had to wipe the whole thing and restore to factory settings.
I won't be doing another update unless I have a spare 48 hours to lose.
Thanks again for your follow up.
Thanks so much. That’s hopefully happening now. Although the screen looks exactly the same as before - stuck at about 75%. Will leave it overnight and fingers crossed. Appreciate the quick reply 🙏
Fingers cross here and yes, do keep us update on hopefully as successful update.
Will do, thanks again!
Any updates on this? Experiencing the same thing.
How was the Empty Space before the attempted update. Good Apple practices ais to always keep 15% of the drive as Empty Space for the OS to function properly.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. See my answer below. Sadly no positive outcome - I just hope your files are backed up.
