Bootable install usb for Mac OSX

Just Formatted my 09 iMAC for my 8 year old daughter to use for school. Now I'm unable to reinstall OSX saying it's unable or to try back later. Was wondering if anyone could walk me through creating a bootable USB for El Capitan. Thanks.
