I have an iPhone X and an Apple Watch series 3. The iPhone does not have a passcode, but the watch does. I'm having issues with Auto Unlock on my Mac. It works when trying to authenticate within an app, but not for unlocking the Mac. The only issue I could think of is my iPhone the watch is connected to does not have a passcode. Could this be the issue?

Figured out the issue. I needed to update my Apple Watch. So the answer to this question is yes, you can use Auto Unlock with an iPhone that does not have a passcode.
