help updating an old app

i have an app on my iphone that needs updated. I want to delete the app and download the new one. But every time I try to down load the new app it pulls the old one from the cloud. How do I get rid of an app in the cloud? or is there another way to fix?

Redownloading an app I recently just got the new iPhone 13. I’ve had no problems. All my information was transferred just fine. Except I’ve been having trouble with redownloading the gamepigeon app. It’s one of my favorite apps so this kind of sucks. Every time I click download it just shows the download cloud again. I’ve signed out and turned my device off and back on.

No, it is pulling the latest one from App Store. The cloud symbol just means it is purchased but not installed.
