New update version of apps

How do I go about completely deleting an app from my phone and the cloud so I can download the new app?

help updating an old app i have an app on my iphone that needs updated. I want to delete the app and download the new one. But every time I try to down load the new app it pulls the old one from the cloud. How do I get rid of an app in the cloud? or is there another way to fix?
