How do I transfer all of my information to a new Mac if my old Mac has a cracked screen and I can't see anything/

Please help! My MacBook screen is cracked and I cannot navigate enough to open anything. How do I transfer all of my files from my Desktop, etc to a new MacBook?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

-------

External Display:

Use an external display for this (i.e. Monitor, TV, or Projector). That way, you can access it clear, and crisp.

Adapter to Use:

You would likely use an HDMI cable. So, consider this adapter: Belkin USB-C to HDMI Adapter - Apple

Does it boot? If it does, try Target Disk Mode: Share files between two computers with target disk mode - https://support.apple.com/HT201462

It would also help to know the age of this Mac. If it is a really old modelit is beyond a period when Apple would consider repairing it and you might possibly be able to remove the drive so it could be put into an enclosure and you get access that way.

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205749

If that opportunity has past, the second best way is use the Migration Assistant.

You can also transfer all your user account from an external BootClone or an external Time Machine backup—there is no external screen needed, simply select the source to transfer to your new Mac.
