How do I get the search bar to stick? I do a lot of searching in the mail app, and I hate having to click the search icon before the search field appears. Is there a way to make it behave like the previous versions? Please help.
As noted, in previous versions you had to click in the search field to enter text. Now you have to click the icon to enter text. Both require one click. If you just preferred clicking the former, there's no way to revert to that behavior other than downgrading to a previous version of macOS.
I created a new viewer window, clicked the find icon, and just left it there in find mode. Works for me.
Didn't you click in the search field before? How is this any different other than visually? One click either way.
You could type cmd-opt-F and keep your fingers on the keyboard.
That's not an answer at all.
