This article does not help. I'm interested in knowing what software needs to be installed. Is this a way to get me to update my OS to from 10.15.x to 10.16.x (which I do not want to do right now)? Is it a simple update to 10.15.x+1? Why so cryptic?

• 10.16.X does not exist.
• The current MacOS version is MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3.
• The required update is software required to interface to iOS 14 devices.

If you do not want Big Sur then you have the only software available. (Big Sur is fantastic)

What year is your Mac?

You should be able to go to system preferences>software update - and install the latest update. Are you using Catalina?
