If your Apple Watch doesn’t wake when you raise your wrist, make sure you selected the proper wrist and watch orientation. Also make sure you are not in Theater Mode. For more info, see:

On your iPhone launch the Watch app. Go to the General/Wake Screen preference pane and make sure that Wake on Wrist Raise is turned on:
