Buying AppleCare+ after repair?

I’m considering whether or not to get my iPad Pro repaired by Apple (£480 for a cracked screen).

I know it’s too late to add AppleCare to my plan now as the iPad is about 10 months sold, but does anyone know if I can add it after the repair is complete?

AppleCare+ cover can only be added with 60-days of original purchase. AppleCare+ cannot be retrospectively added.
