Hi,

Drivers for the Canon PIXMA MP280 can be found here (different regions):

Did you already try the above drivers? You could also reset the printing system and re-add the printer.

I necessary, copy (or print a test page) directly from the control panel in order to verify that the printer is working. Alternatively, connect the printer to another computer for a test.

Hi,

First of all, do you have the updated macOS Big Sur 11.1?

If so, I can only suggest that you try everything in my response to pilarreza (if necessary, including drivers from another region). This printer model is USB only, so the alternative to try a network connection is not possible.

The experimentally inclined (with access to the necessary equipment) could possibly be willing to carry out a test with a Wi-Fi-to-USB print server (or Ethernet-to-USB) for the printer connection to a Wi-Fi router. Alternatively, to connect the printer to a USB port of an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express base station. This just to investigate whether it makes any difference at all (the computer would then use a wireless network connection instead of USB). Because of the protocols involved, do not expect it to work.
