Cant connect appple watch series 3 GPS to Iphone 6

I recently got an apple watch series 3 GPS with watchOS 6 on it, I know that watchOS 6 needs ios 13 or later but I factory receted it to watchOS 4-5 and on the apple watch box it says that it needs an iphone 5s or later with ios 11 or later and my iphone 6 has ios 12.5, so when i try to connect my apple watch to my iphone 6 it says update iphone or continue without update, whenever i press both it says unpairing apple watch and i just cant get them working together, Please help if you know how :)

And does that mean Apple is forcing us to buy better devices ?

Thanks for replying, but when i factory receted the watch and tryed to connect it to my iphone it says update and for the update I need IOS 13 and that means without the update i dont need IOS 13.

And do you know how to downgrade an Applewatch ?

When you factory reset a watch it doesn't change the version of WatchOS so your watch is still running WatchOS6,which means you require an iphone with ios13 or higher which is an iphone 6s or higher.
